This Bread in a Bag recipe is perfect for beginners and families. No messy counters, no stand mixer—everything comes together right inside a resealable bag. Soft on the inside, golden on the outside, and ready with minimal cleanup.
INGREDIENTS
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water (110°F / 45°C)
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for softer bread)
DIRECTIONS
In a large resealable plastic bag, add the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Seal the bag and shake well to evenly mix the dry ingredients.
Open the bag and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Reseal tightly, pressing out excess air.
Knead the dough inside the bag for 5–7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. The dough should pull away from the sides of the bag easily.
Leave the dough inside the sealed bag and place it in a warm area. Let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Remove the dough from the bag, gently shape it into a loaf, and place it on a greased baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Transfer to a wire rack and let cool before slicing.
